Scotland!

Whew.
Just spent 5 days in Edinbrugh/St. Andrews for the blessing of the wedding between Graham and Erin. It was a great weekend. I've put up a bunch of photos on KodakGallery because there were too many to post here. You've gotta sign up for it but it's free and it seems a lot of people use it.
The wedding was great, fantastic weather all day and night. The reception was in a club overlooking the 1st/18th fairways of the Old Course, just beautiful views from there of the beach and ocean.

So to answer your questions before they are asked, yes, I drank lots of Scotch, ate haggis, wore a kilt (for real this time), and played golf at St. Andrews. Poorly. Everything you'd want in a Scottish holiday, really.

I'm awaiting more photos to filter in from the rest of the attendees so I will post more when I get them.

Great pictures Dan...I really liked the one of the castle...how picturesque. The wedding and golf ones are very good. So glad you got a sporin, you look very authentic! Keep 'em coming, we are all travelling Europe through you. Your weather in Scotland was considerably better than NW Ontario too!

Hi Dan,

We loved the pictures as well...especially liked the ones of you:):)You look quite debonair in a kilt for sure and could easily pass for a Scotsman I'm sure until you opened your mouth! Unless of course, you have managed to pick up a bit of the accent. Can't wait to hear your versions of English, Irish and Scottish accents. Looks like a lovely wedding not unlike those in Canada I suppose. I too loved the castle. The bunker at St. Andrews looked quite forbidding. How deep was it at the shelf??? You were golfing right handed?? Do they not have left handed clubs over there??? Keep those photos coming...we so enjoy them!!!

I am officially the most jealous Hamilton right now. Golfing in Scotland had to be a blast. And the scotch...

Anyways, good to hear from you again. We are looking forward to seeing you around Christmas.

Welcome to the other side, Dan - once you go kilty, you'll never go back! Bloody expensive kit, though!

Anyway, I'm ashamed to say I couldn't identify your tartan...I'm pretty sure Mike is wearing Blackwatch.

How was the whisky sampling? I hope you had a taste of Balvenie Doublewood - my personal fave.

Dave,
I was proudly sporting the tartan of the SRU: Scottish Rugby Union. You're right about Mike's kilt.
The Balvenie 10 is as far as I've gotten into their range - fantastic. Had some Bowmore (nice), Talisker (too peaty), and some others. In Edinburgh there's a giant whiskey shop where they had a £4000 bottle of bowmore! (1956 i think) One of 306 created, it came in a wooden box locked tight with a antique padlock.

Probably tastes awful, though.

Oh yeah and Mark, I was thinking of you the entire time we were out on the course. I was trying to channel your driving ability, but alas to no avail.

Hey, as long as you weren't in the sand too much you should've been find. Deep bunkers, eh?
